Devlog #3 - New demo and fake 3D minigame


Hello everyone!

This is the 3rd devlog for Knight George, let's take a quick look at what's new since last time! The major news being that the game got featured in this year's ARC'INDIE showcase:

Which means an updated version of the demo! It was mainly about fixing a few things, like the HUD I mentioned in the previous devlog, and trying to improve on some mechanics. This version is available to download below!

On top of that, I did not have a lot of time on my hands this month, but things keeps on going fine. I have started to do some mockups for some new areas, Isabelle has been cooking up some fantastic music (nothing new here, she's that good!) and I have also gone back to working on the fake 3D sequence you can see in the trailer:


It will be a completely optional racing mini-game done in the style of old-school 8-bit racers: you start last and have to power your way to the top in 3 short tracks! 3 laps, no boosting, no blue shells or anything: just you and your mastery of the wheel!

The fun thing? It is actually a lot of F-Zero Pocket, one of my previous project, touched up (especially for corners), optimized and repurposed inside Knight George! You can even see the same "healing up" effect at the end of the gif above.


I don't have much to say otherwise, there has been a lot of small fixes behind the scenes but nothing flashy to showcase. For the next devlog, what would you want to read more about?
